Making History at the Circuit of the Americas

Formula 1 RaceCan you think of a richer feast of the senses than Formula One racing? Feeling the engines rumble deep in your chest and smelling the tire smoke as the cars pass by –  that’s what it’s all about at Circuit of the Americas, especially when all of Austin has come out to see one of the biggest events of the year.

Just this past month, one of America’s best Formula One circuits welcomed fans to the US Formula One Grand Prix. 2014 winner Lewis Hamilton faced 19 hungry rivals in pursuit of his third world championship, and didn’t disappoint. As he crossed the finish line, the 25th of September instantly went down in history. Just when fans thought the day couldn’t get any better, Elton John took to the lawn to rock the stands for a full two hours after the race finished.

Throughout the season, the Circuit of the Americas also hosts the Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas, a leg of the Road Racing World Championship, the FIA World Endurance Championship, and the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. It holds a special place in the hearts of Formula One fans, since it’s the first venue in the US to be built expressly for Formula One racing.

In addition to the 9,000 seat grandstand, a 14,000 seat amphitheater fans out from the 251 foot tall observation tower. The grand plaza contained within the track’s circuit spans 20 acres. On race day, the sprawling grounds are packed. Once the winner’s been decided and the fans have all gone home, the question remains – who’s going to clean up the mess?

We are.
